Plantation Golf and Country Club Engagement Session | Jean & Rory

A Plantation Golf and Country Club Engagement Session
Some couples dream of beach sunsets, while others want their engagement photos to reflect something a little more personal. For Jean and Rory, that meant trading the shoreline for the golf course! Rory loves golf, so when it came time to plan their engagement session, choosing a golf course as the backdrop felt like the perfect fit. And honestly? We love it when couples bring their own ideas to the table. The best photos happen when you make the experience your own.

A Golf Course, a Sunset, and a Change of Plans
We photograph at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Florida, fairly often, so we were excited to create something a little different with Jean and Rory. The club was kind enough to accommodate our session, and we started planning around the golf course's tee times to find the perfect window for that gorgeous golden-hour light.
Our original plan was to meet near the 18th hole around sunset. It sounded ideal until we arrived and realized just how many golfers were finishing their rounds! With golfers lined up and no real breaks in the action, it quickly became clear that our original plan wasn't going to work.
So, we did what photographers sometimes have to do: improvise.
With daylight fading, we hustled across the street to a completely open section of the course and started scouting for a new spot. We didn't have much time to waste, but we found a location we loved, settled in, and got to work.
And just like that, the session was back on track!

When the Groom Is All In
One of our favorite things about this session was how excited Rory was to be there.
, guys can be a little hesitant at the beginning of an engagement shoot. Being in front of a camera isn't everyone's favorite thing, and that's completely okay. Our goal is always to help couples relax, have fun, and forget about the camera as much as possible.
But Rory? He was all in!
Because the location was his idea and golf was something he genuinely enjoyed, the whole experience felt natural. Instead of simply showing up for photos, he had a personal connection to the setting. That made it easier for both of them to loosen up, enjoy the moment, and let their personalities shine.
That's one of the reasons we love personalized engagement sessions. Whether it's a favorite hobby, a meaningful location, or an adventure you enjoy together, incorporating a little piece of your everyday life can make your photos feel so much more like you.

A Golden Florida Sunset to Finish the Day
Despite our last-minute change of plans, the evening gave us exactly what we were hoping for: a beautiful Florida sunset. The open greens, expansive sky, and warm evening light created a gorgeous backdrop for Jean and Rory's portraits.
Their Plantation Golf and Country Club engagement session was a reminder that not every photo shoot goes exactly according to plan—and that's part of the fun! Sometimes, the unexpected moments lead us to a location we might not have discovered otherwise.
